About the game
EXODUS is a next-gen story-driven action RPG from Archetype Entertainment — a studio founded by BioWare veterans led by James Ohlen (Baldur's Gate, Knights of the Old Republic, Dragon Age: Origins), with Mass Effect 1–2 lead writer Drew Karpyshyn on the team. Published by Wizards of the Coast.
The game was announced at The Game Awards 2023, and at TGA 2025 a new in-engine trailer confirmed the release window: early 2027. Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Matthew McConaughey voices one of the roles — his video game debut.
The project's signature feature is time dilation: traveling at near-light speed, the hero ages slower than their home world. Days for you — decades for those you left behind. Every choice echoes across generations.
The World
23rd century. Earth is dying, and humanity leaves its home planet aboard giant ark ships. The destination — the Centauri cluster, 16,000 light-years away. Millennia of flight, hundreds of systems, unknown threats.
Ages later, the survivors settled on the planet Lidon. But the "green worlds" turned out to be no paradise: humanity had to fight for its place under alien stars, sharing the galaxy with ancient powers.
The most powerful beings in the universe — and humanity's greatest enemy. Their weapons and technology are humankind's only chance to survive. They must be stolen. That's what Travelers are for.
The core mechanic and the heart of the story. At near-light speed, time slows down for the Traveler: days pass for you, while decades pass at home. You return to a world that has learned to live without you.
The Hero
You are the Traveler — one of the few who head out on expeditions to the stars to steal Celestial technology. Every launch means years the world lives without you. Loved ones grow old, allies move on, and the consequences of your decisions pile up across generations.
The developers promise broad player agency, the "Oath System," and a non-linear story where choices compound into centuries-long consequences for all of humanity.
Lore
Earth is dying. Humanity builds ark ships and leaves the Solar System, heading for the Centauri cluster.
Millennia in transit. Colonists face unknown enemies and settle hundreds of worlds.
The survivors establish themselves on Lidon — humanity's new home among alien stars.
The events of the game. Humanity wars with the Celestials, and Travelers steal their technology for the future of the species.
